Melvin Jones Vinson, age 83, of Independence, passed away Thursday, June 01, 2017. He was a retired Quality Control Inspector for Avey Machinery and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Melvin enjoyed being outdoors working in his yard or in his garden and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife (of 62 years) Rosemary Martin Vinson; sons, Jeffery Alan Vinson (Nancy) and Steven Scott Vinson (Glenda); sisters, Marguerite Blackburn and Ruby Martin; grandchildren, Laura Meier (Adam), Jennifer Garrison (Stephen), Dale Vinson (Haleigh), and Amber Vinson; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with services immediately following at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Interment will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Floral Hills Cemetery in Covington, KY. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
