Wavilyn Joyce Riley Parsons, age 85, of Independence, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. She was a retired Secretary for Twenhofel Middle School and a member of Nicholson Christian Church. “Wavy” enjoyed gardening, cooking, attending church, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband (for 66 years), Dewey C. Parsons, children, Jeffrey Parsons (Janet) and Sharon Abrams (Greg); brother, Wayne Riley (Pearl); grandchildren, Erica Vories (Alex), Curtis Parsons (Melanie), Taylor Abrams (Catherine), and Wesley Abrams; and great grandchildren, Caleb Vories, Joshua Vories, and Emma Parsons. Visitation will be Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Funeral services will be Monday, April 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
