Billy Joe Johnson, 71, of Independence, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his home. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a retired supervisor at Duro Bag Company; and enjoyed raccoon hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. Billy was a member of the Sun Valley Coon Hunters and Campbell County Coon Hunters.

He is survived by his two children; Ronda Gale Johnson, and Roger (Lindsey) Dale Johnson; five brothers, Pete, Tommy, Frank, Paul, and Hiram Johnson Jr. Seven sisters, Carless Ann Jett, Kate Spencer, Evelyn Sparks, Jane Seigle, Linda Terry, Wanda Roork, and Shirley Palmer; two grandchildren Ainsley and Aaron Johnson; and his two best friends Terry Collins and Brian Rider. Billy is preceded in death by his loving wife Cathy Faye Johnson, two brothers, Ken Davidson and Jim Johnson; and one sister Lee Smith.

Visitation for Billy will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 11 to 1 pm with funeral services following at 1pm at Chambers & Grubbs Independence. Burial will be held at Independence Cemetery.

At Billy’s request, please dress casual.
