Gertrude Vesta “Becky” Price Upton, age 88, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport. She was the former owner of Upton’s Complete Landscaping. Ms. Upton enjoyed planting flowers, shopping, spending time in Florida, and spending time with friends at the local V.F.W. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Talmage Upton; daughters, Beverly Renaker and Billie Jean Upton; and son, Baby Upton.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen White of Independence; sons, William Talmage Upton, III of Georgia and Terry Michael of Independence; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be Monday, December 17, 2012, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Florence Cemetery.
